How to Use This Calculator?

Here is the  step-by-step procedure on how to use the above calculator:

Choose the Mode: The calculator has two tabs representing the two modes: Astable and Monostable. By default, the Astable Mode tab is active. If you want to calculate for Astable Mode, no further action is required. If you want to switch to Monostable Mode, click on the "Monostable Mode" tab.

Astable Mode Calculations:

1. Enter the value of "Resistance R1" in the input field labeled "Enter Resistance R1." You can input the value in any valid format, like 100, 100.5, etc.

2. Select the unit for R1 from the dropdown menu "kΩ (Kiloohm)," "Ω (Ohm)," or "MΩ (Megaohm)."

3. Similarly, enter the value of "Resistance R2" in the input field labeled "Enter Resistance R2," and select its unit from the respective dropdown.

4. Enter the value of "Capacitance C" in the input field labeled "Enter Capacitance C," and select its unit from the respective dropdown.

5. After entering the values, click on the "Calculate" button to perform the calculations. The calculated results will be displayed below the "Calculate" button.

Monostable Mode Calculations:

1. If you wish to calculate for Monostable Mode, click on the "Monostable Mode" tab (if not already selected).

2. Enter the value of "Resistance R1" in the input field labeled "Enter Resistance R1."

3. Select the unit for R1 from the dropdown menu "kΩ (Kiloohm)," "Ω (Ohm)," or "MΩ (Megaohm)."

4. Similarly, enter the value of "Capacitance C1" in the input field labeled "Enter Capacitance C1," and select its unit from the respective dropdown.

5. After entering the values, click on the "Calculate" button to perform the calculations. The calculated results will be displayed below the "Calculate" button.

Reset the Calculator:

If you want to reset the calculator to start over or enter new values, you can use the "Reset" button available in both modes. It will clear all the input fields and calculate results, allowing you to input new values.

Remember to input the correct values and units to get accurate results from the calculator.

Formula

Here are the formulas used in the above calculator,

For Astable Mode:

Frequency (f) Calculation:

Formula: f = 1.44 / (C * (R1 + 2 * R2))

Where:

f is the frequency in Hz.
C is the capacitance in Farads.
R1 is the resistance R1 in Ohms.
R2 is the resistance R2 in Ohms.

Positive Time Interval (TP) Calculation:

Formula: TP = 0.693 * C * (R1 + R2)

Where:

TP is the positive time interval in milliseconds.
C is the capacitance in Farads.
R1 is the resistance R1 in Ohms.
R2 is the resistance R2 in Ohms.

Negative Time Interval (TN) Calculation:

Formula: TN = 0.693 * R2 * C

Where:

TN is the negative time interval in milliseconds.
C is the capacitance in Farads.
R2 is the resistance R2 in Ohms.

Duty Cycle (D) Calculation:

Formula: D = (TP / (TP + TN)) * 100

Where:

D is the duty cycle expressed as a percentage.
TP is the positive time interval in milliseconds.
TN is the negative time interval in milliseconds.

For Monostable Mode:

Output Pulse Duration (T) Calculation:

Formula: T = 1.1 * R1 * C1

Where:

T is the output pulse duration in milliseconds.
R1 is the resistance R1 in Ohms.
C1 is the capacitance C1 in Farads.

Output Pulse Width (tW) Calculation:

Formula: tW = 0.693 * R1 * C1

Where:

tW is the output pulse width in milliseconds.
R1 is the resistance R1 in Ohms.
C1 is the capacitance C1 in Farads.
