How to Use This Calculator?

To use this Calculator, follow these steps:
  1. Band Type Selection: Choose the type of resistor band you want to work with. There are three options:
  2. For a 3-digit resistor, leave the "3-digit" option selected.
  3. For a 4-digit resistor, select the "4-digit" option.
  4. For an EIA-96 resistor, select the "EIA-96" option.
  5. Resistor Code Input: In the "Get/Put Resistor Code Here" field, enter the resistor code you want to calculate. The code can be in different formats, such as 669, 6R9, or 68F. You can enter the code directly by typing it into the field.
  6. Calculate Resistance Value: Click the "Calculate Resistance Value" button. The calculator will convert the resistor code into its corresponding resistance value.
  7. Resistance Value Input: In the "Get/Put Resistance Value Here" field, you can manually enter the resistance value if you want to find the resistor code. The value can be in different formats, such as 254, 35 ohms, 26 kohms(means kilohms), or 12 mohms(which means mega ohms).
  8. Remember that while you calculate resistor code then also select the proper band type.
  9. Find Resistor Code: After inputting the resistance value Click the "Find Resistor Code" button. The calculator will convert the resistance value into its corresponding resistor code.
  10. View the Result: The calculated resistor value or resistor code will be displayed in their respective section of the calculator.

By following these steps, you can use the SMD Resistor Calculator to convert between resistor codes and resistance values, depending on your needs.

Example

Now let's take an example of how to use the SMD Resistor Calculator:

  1. Band Type Selection: Suppose we want to work with a 4-digit resistor. So we select the "4-digit" option.
  2. Resistor Code Input: Now we have a resistor with the code "4730". We enter this code into the "Get/Put Resistor Code Here" field.
  3. Calculate Resistance Value: We click the "Calculate Resistance Value" button. The calculator will process the code and convert it into its corresponding resistance value.
  4. Result Display: The calculated resistance value will be displayed in the "Get/Put Resistance Value Here" field. In this case, the calculator will show "473 Ohms" as the result.
  5. Resistance Value Input: Now, we want to find the resistor code for a specific resistance value. We have a resistance of 100 ohms. We enter this value into the "Get/Put Resistance Value Here" field.
  6. Find Resistor Code: We click the "Find Resistor Code" button. The calculator will process the resistance value and convert it into its corresponding resistor code.
  7. Result Display: The calculated resistor code will be displayed in the "Get/Put Resistor Code Here" field. In this case, the calculator will show "01A" if you select EIA96 Band, "1000" if you select the 4-digit band, and "101" if you select the 3-digit band.

So, in this example, we used the SMD Resistor Calculator to convert a 4-digit resistor code "4730" into its resistance value of "473 ohms". Additionally, we found the resistor code "01A" or "1000" or "101"  for a resistance value of 100 ohms.
