Electric Iron Press Wiring Diagram and Internal Connection

Hey, in this article, we are going to see the Electric Iron Press Wiring Diagram and Internal Connection between each component. An electric iron press is commonly known as an electric iron or simply an iron. It is a household appliance used to remove wrinkles and creases from clothing and fabrics by applying heat and pressure. It is an essential tool for maintaining a neat and professional appearance of clothing items.

Knowing the wiring diagram and internal connection helps to understand how the electrical iron actually works. And technicians get help to repair them also. When an electric iron malfunctions or requires maintenance, the internal wiring diagram serves as a guide for technicians or skilled individuals to identify and diagnose issues. It helps in pinpointing faulty components or connections that might be causing the problem. Without a clear understanding of the wiring diagram, repairing the iron safely and effectively can be challenging. So, understanding the internal wiring diagram is crucial for both safety and troubleshooting purposes.

Main Components

Here is the list of main components related to its electric circuits only. It may have additional components non-electrical circuit related which is why those are not listed here.
  1. Heating Element
  2. Thermostat
  3. Indicator Light
  4. 3-pin plug

Heating Element

The heating element is a vital component of an electric iron. It is responsible for generating the heat required to remove wrinkles and creases from fabrics. It is typically made of materials with high electrical resistance, such as nichrome wire. The heating element heats up when electricity passes through it. As it gets hot, it radiates heat to the iron's soleplate, allowing the user to press and smooth out clothing.

Thermostat

The thermostat is a temperature-sensing or regulating device in an electric iron. It helps control and maintain the iron's operating temperature. There are usually different temperature settings on the iron, ranging from low to high, to accommodate various types of fabrics. The thermostat monitors the temperature of the heating element and regulates it by either turning the element on or off, or by adjusting the intensity of the current flowing through it.

Indicator Light

The indicator light is a visual cue that provides information about the iron's status. It is typically located on the iron's body and often near the temperature control dial. The light may serve different purposes, such as indicating whether the iron is on and heating up, whether it has reached the desired temperature, or if it's safe to touch or handle. The indicator light helps users understand when the iron is ready for use and when it's safe to begin ironing.

3-Pin Plug

The 3-pin plug is the power plug that helps to connect the electric iron to an electrical outlet or socket. It's designed to ensure the safe connection of the iron to the power source. The 3-pin configuration includes two flat or rounded pins for the live and neutral wires and a grounding pin. The grounding pin is crucial for safety, as it helps prevent electrical shock by providing a path for excess electrical current to be safely directed into the ground. The 3-pin plug is a standard safety feature in many electrical appliances, including irons.

Connection Description

1. The phase or line wire from the 3-pin plug top is connected to the input terminal of the thermostat.

2. The output wire from the thermostat is connected to the phase terminal of the Heating Element.

3. The Neutral terminal of the Heating Element is directly connected to the neutral terminal of the 3-pin plug top.

4. The indicator light is just connected to parallel with the heating element which means the phase terminal of the indicator light is connected to the phase terminal of the heating element and the neutral terminal of the indicator light is connected to the neutral terminal of the heating element.

5. The earthing or grounding terminal of the 3-pin plug top is connected to the metal body of the heating element or the iron body.
