Mobile CPU VS Desktop CPU | The Actual Difference

Mobile CPU VS Desktop CPU, differences between Mobile processor and Computer processor

The main difference between Mobile CPU and Desktop CPU is that the Mobile CPU works with the Reduced Instruction Set Computing(RISC) system but the desktop or computer CPU works with the Complex Instruction Set Computing(CISC) System. In this article, you will find other important differences between Mobile processors and Computer processors in detail explanation. So let's discuss Mobile CPU VS Desktop CPU

Differences between Mobile CPU and Desktop CPU

1. As I told you before the mobile CPU works with RISC which means it is capable of executing fewer and simpler instructions, on the other hand, the desktop CPU works with CISC which means it is capable of executing very many and complex instructions. In the future, the mobile CPU or processors may be designed to work with CISC.

2. The architecture of mobile CPU based on the ARM(Advanced RISC Machine) whereas the architecture of Desktop or computer CPU based on x86 or x64

3.  All the cores in the mobile CPU works in different clock pulse but all the cores in the desktop CPU works in the same clock pulse.

4. The Mobile phone CPU has more general-purpose registers inside it than the desktop CPU.

5. Modern desktop processors have Cache Memory inside it, the present mobile processors do not have any cache memory inside it. In the future, the Cache memory may be included with the mobile processor.

6. There is no Hyper-Threading Technology included in the mobile CPU but in the computer processor, the Hyper-Threading Technology is included. In the future, Hyper-Threading technology may be included in the mobile processor.

Mobile CPU VS Desktop CPU

1. As the mobile processor works with fewer instructions than the computer processor, it produces less heat.

2. Mobile CPU consumes very less power whereas the desktop CPU consumes more power.

3. The mobile CPU is much smaller in size whereas the desktop CPU is larger in size than the mobile CPU.

4. The desktop CPU works with a higher clock speed whereas the mobile CPU works with a smaller clock speed.
