Digital Counter Meter Connection Diagram and Wiring



Hey, in this article, we are going to see the Digital Counter Meter Connection Diagram and Wiring Procedure. Digital counter meters are versatile devices used in various applications to count and display numerical values.  For example, they are used In manufacturing industries for counting items as they pass through a production line to track manufacturing output. Here, we will learn how to connect sensors or switches to a digital counter meter. Also, we will learn how to use its output relay terminals to operate external devices such as Contactors, Alarms, or indication systems.

Generally, in the most of the cases, Proximity sensors and micro switches are used with digital counter meters. So, in the below wiring diagrams, we have shown the connection between a digital counter meter and proximity sensor and micro switch.


Digital Counter Meter Connection with PNP Proximity Sensor


Here, in the below wiring diagram, you can see the connection between a Digital Counter Meter and a PNP Proximity Sensor.

Connection Description
  1. Terminals 8 and 9 are shorted.
  2. The positive terminal of the sensor(brown) is connected to the terminal 6
  3. The negative terminal of the sensor(blue) is connected to the terminal 8
  4. The output terminal of the sensor(black) is connected to the terminal 7
  5. 230V single-phase power supply connected to the terminals 1 and 2
  6. The relay terminals 3(NO), 4(common), and 5(NC) can be used to operate external devices such as contactors or indication lamps.

Digital Counter Meter Connection with NPN Proximity Sensor


Here, in the below wiring diagram, you can see the connection between a Digital Counter Meter and a NPN Proximity Sensor.

Connection Description
  1. Terminals 6 and 7 are shorted.
  2. The positive terminal of the sensor(brown) is connected to the terminal 7
  3. The negative terminal of the sensor(blue) is connected to the terminal 9
  4. The output terminal of the sensor(black) is connected to the terminal 8
  5. 230V single-phase power supply connected to the terminals 1 and 2
  6. The relay terminals 3(NO), 4(common), and 5(NC) can be used to operate external devices such as contactors or indication lamps.

Digital Counter Meter Connection with Micro Switch

Working Principle


When we connect a proximity sensor or a micro switch to a digital counter meter, the system works by detecting physical objects or events (such as the presence of an object or the activation of a switch) and converting these events into electrical signals that the digital counter meter can count and display. 

For example, when we use this system for Counting Items on a Conveyor Belt, a proximity sensor is mounted above a conveyor belt to detect items passing by and it is connected to a digital counter meter. As items pass under the proximity sensor, the sensor detects each item and sends a pulse to the digital counter meter. The digital counter meter increments the count with each pulse and displays the total number of items that have passed by.
