USB Wiring Diagram, Connection, PinOut, Terminals

Hey, in this article we are going to see the USB Wiring Diagram, USB PinOut, USB Connection Diagram, and USB terminal identifications. USB full form Universal Serial Bus. It is a universal port that helps to connect any peripheral devices (such as a printer, scanner, keyboard, mouse, digital music player, and many more) with a computer. Using the USB port, we can connect and disconnect any peripheral to the computer without resetting or turning off the computer or the peripheral device. USB is the most usable port than other. USB port not only helps to transfer data, but it also helps to transmit electrical power at low voltage(generally 5V DC).

USB Port Terminals

Here, you can see the terminal identification of a USB port, type A.

Here, you can see the USB port has a total of four terminals - Red, White, Green, and Black. The colour code may change from different manufacturers.

The red colour may be replaced by the orange colour, the white colour may be replaced by the gold colour, and the black colour may be replaced by the blue colour.

Anyway, now let's see the function of each terminal. The red terminal is for the Vcc or positive terminal of the power supply. The black terminal is for the ground or negative terminal of the power supply. The green and white terminals are for the data transmission. Green is positive whereas white is negative.

USB Pinout

Now, let's see the USB connector Pinout diagram.

Here, you can see from the right side to the left side, pins are marked as 1, 2, 3, 4.

Pin 1 is the Vcc, which is used to transfer electrical power between two devices. It acts as a positive pin of the power supply. This helps to make the handshake signal between the two devices. Generally, USB transfers power at 5V DC Voltage.

Pin 2 is the negative data pin. This helps to transmit the actual data between two devices.

Pin 3 is the positive data pin. This also helps to transmit the data between two devices. Actually, for data transmission purposes two pins are required, so both pin 3 and pin 4 are required for data transmission.

Pin 4 is the Ground or negative power supply pin. This helps to make to close the power circuit for which electrical current can flow between two devices.

USB Wiring Diagram

Here, you can see the wiring diagram of USB type A with a micro USB type B.

This is a very popular and most usable USB port or data cable. This type of port and cable is mostly used for mobile charging and data transferring purposes. This type of cable can provide an average of 1.5 MB/Sec data transferring speed. When you need to transfer data between a mobile and a computer. Just connect the Type A USB port to the computer and connect the Micro USB Type B to your phone. Here, you do not need to turn off your computer or mobile.

USB Connection Diagram

Here, you can see the connection diagram of USB type-A with Mirco USB type B.

USB Connection Diagram, Connection of USB, Internal Diagram of USB Port, USB Diagram

You can see the USB type A has a total of four terminals whereas the Micro USB type B has a total of five terminals.
Also, you can see the pins of the USB Type-A are marked from the right side to the left side, whereas the pins of the USB Type B are marked from the left side to the right side.

Pin no 1 of both ports are connected by the red wire, and it is for Vcc

Pin no 2 of both ports are connected by the white wire, and it is for the negative pin for data.

Pin no 3 of both ports are connected by the green wire, and it is for the positive pin for data.

Pin no 4 of the USB Type A is connected to pin no 5 of the Micro USB Type B.

So, note that pin no 4 of the micro USB type B is not connected.
