What is the Meaning of mAh in Battery? Explained

mAh Battery Meaning, meaning of mAh in battery

mAh Battery Meaning: The mAh means "milliampere hour". The small capacity of batteries which are used in smartphones, tablets are rated in mAh. Ampere is the unit of current. Milliampere or mA is the smaller unit of current. 1 ampere = 1000 milliampere.

Now the question is what is the meaning of mAh in Battery or why small batteries are rated in mAh? The answer is it indicates the capacity of the battery.

Suppose a battery has rating 5000mAh. So it indicates that if we connect a load with the battery which draws 5000 mA current then the battery will deliver the power for 1 hour or the battery will fully discharge after 1 hour.

But if we connect a load with that battery which draws 10000mA current then the battery will deliver power for 1/2 hour or 30 minutes.

Now if we connect a load with that battery which draws 1000 mA current then the battery will deliver the power for five hours.

The equation for calculating the power delivering time of the battery is,

Actually, our smartphone's batteries are rated in mAh that is why most of the people asked this question and they also asked is more mAh rating battery is better?

Yes, if your smartphone battery has more mAh rating then it is good. The power delivering time also depends upon the uses of the smartphone. When we keep our phone in flight mode it draws very less current so in this case, the charge in the battery last for a long time but when we using the Internet, recording high-quality videos then our phone draws a very large amount of current and in this case the battery discharge quickly.

Some batteries are rated in Watt-Hour which also indicates the capacity of the battery.
